A good desk setup is not about expensive gear. It is about removing small distractions so starting work feels easy.
1. Clear the surface
Keep only what you use every day on the desk. Everything else goes in a drawer or a box.
2. Fix the screen height
The top of your screen should be around eye level. A stack of books works as well as a stand.
3. Light from the side
Put your desk so the window light comes from the side, not behind the screen. Add a warm lamp for evenings.
4. Tame the cables
- Use a few reusable cable ties.
- Run cables along the back edge of the desk.
- Keep one charger within reach for your phone.
Rule of thumb: if it takes more than 10 seconds to start working, something on your desk is in the way.
